Al Helm - Martin Luther King in Palestine Screening and Discussion
Come join us for a special screening and discussion of the film Al Helm - Martin Luther King in Palestine. The film follows an African American gospel choir and Palestinian actors across the Holy Land amid a rising tide of non-violent struggle for change. It was an intense cultural exchange between two peoples encompassing the joy of new friendships, creative collaborations and eye opening experiences. No one who participated remained unchanged.
Following the film will be a discussion facilitated by members of local social justice and faith communities, including John D. Paarlberg (former Minister for Social Witness and Worship for the Reformed Church in America), Reverand Alexandra Lusak (Teaching Elder member of Albany Presbytery), Palestinian activist Zuhair AlAtwi, and filmmaker Ellie Bernstein.
Registration is required: please register online, in person at any branch or by calling (518) 472-0485.
