South End Heartbeats

South End Heartbeats

[Ages 0-17] Come enter the world of Indian percussion with renowned musician Devesh Chandra.  Over the course of five sessions, students will learn Indian rhythms, playing techniques, and vocal percussion.  Through this tradition steeped in improvisation, students will take what they've learned and bring it forward to create music reflective of their own culture.  Their work will then be performed live at Howe's Summer Reading Wrap Up Party on August 31.

For more information about Devesh, please visit his website: https://deveshchandra.com/

This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by The Arts Center of the Capital Region.
